Medley of musical cultures!

The meeting of the 36 youngsters takes place in “Little Haná” in Vilémov u Olomouce from the 20th July to 27th July 2009.
During this time we want to create something totally new, a medley of typical songs from Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Czech Republic. While remixing the typical songs of our home countries we show that music has the ability to connect different cultures. But we do not see only the final product as relevant, the whole process of creating will be for the youngsters a source of great experience with the other cultures. In this process they will be asked to place their own ideas, to listen to the ideas of the others and to unit them into one song that will be representing all regions. That has a need of high creativity, cooperation, tolerance, determination and persistence from the youngsters. The final medley together with explanatory drawings will be admired on two different displays on the weekend in the square in Olomouc and in the park in Prostějov. But that’s not all. To provide a profound insight of the specifics of the different regions we do not only want to make classical national evenings about every country. Every group has to introduce his region on one evening shortly by adding rapped details to a presentation of pictures of their area. The following evenings will be thematical. They will present and share their national dances as well as typical games, a one important representative for music from their regions.Our project will be followed by an exhibition of photos in each of the participating regions where we will inform about our activities and experiences.
